Many victories and great successes
followed for which “I am very grateful”
I am Horst Staebler, a German racing driver.
I started my racing career in 1992 in Germany.
In the first 2 seasons I drove for different brands like Honda, BMW and Mercedes until I got the chance on a 911 Porsche and that on the most difficult race track in the world, the Nürburgring Nordschleife “the Green Hell”.
From then on my real destiny began to be a Porsche racing driver. 18 years I drove different Porsche series with different racing team owners. However, the number 6, my lucky number, often accompanied me in my starting numbers.
I was born in 1965 in the Stuttgart area and with no racing background in the family I started to get involved with motorsports at the age of 9. From then on it was clear to me that I would become a Porsche racing driver, that was my vision. After I worked hard to earn the necessary money for it, had neither a manager nor a sponsor, I could not turn my first test laps until my mid-20s. In 1992 I was already “Top10 Newcomer of the Year. In my third season in 1995, the first in the Porsche 964 Cup Series, I became champion for the 1st time with 5 victories. I won in France, Germany, Netherlands, Hungary and Italy.
Of course I tried other series like the DTC (German Touring Car Challenge) and the Renault V6 Cup as well as brands VW, Renault and Ferrari F40 before I drove in the German and European Championship of Porsche and won both in 1999.
Many victories and great successes followed for which I am very grateful.
Thanks to all my fans, sponsors, racing stable owners, friends and family who allowed me to do all this.

RACING SERIES
Porsche is a very historic world company with a success story like it rarely happens. For me, however, Porsche is something else entirely, namely a (my) big family. No matter where I travel, no matter where I meet people – old friends, shareholders, fellow racers, promoters, organizers, marshals or fans – there is always something to talk about and celebrate. I love it!

RACE TRACKS
24h Nuremberg Race - "The Green Hell"
24 Hours Race Nuremberg Circuit
“THE GREEN HELL”
ABOUT THE NUREMBERG TRACK
The MOST DEMANDING racetrack in the World
The Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, already known as extremely demanding for drivers and material (“Green Hell”), offers space for the enormously large starting field of up to more than 220 vehicles due to its track length. A scenery of the extra class with more than 250,000 spectators and approx. 800 drivers who take turns at the wheel of the vehicles during the 24 hours.
MY EXPERIENCE
As a five-time participant, I always like to think back to this really eventful and crazy time. I love these crowds and fans who come to get autographs on the grid and quickly jostle for the camera during interviews. The starting phases are usually civil, but hard duels with a lot of respect and fairness are the order of the day. Those who think they don’t have to pay attention to this or have to win the 24H Hatz in the first laps will be punished with hard facts and subsequent heavy retirements. Especially at night it will be very varied, race interruptions and pacing because of brutal departures are always frequent. Besides the hard fights on the super fast and demanding race track you can smell the sausage taste on the grills of the fans all the way into the race cockpit. The fans come up with all kinds of other things, too. From writing on the race track to painting posters and flags to megaphones, everything is there. The fans’ motto, the main thing is to contribute something.
Who knows when I can be persuaded again to take a seat in a racing car and let this special event come to me when it says: Ladies and gentlemen please start your engine!
